The Privy Tippers are a rock solid dance band steeped in the Southern string band tradition. Over the past 16 years they kept one foot in the South while they stepped into several other musical traditions, such as French Canadian, New England and music of the Southwestern Borderlands. No matter which musical region they draw from, they fold their own style of fun and highly dancable rhythms into the music, making it their own and giving it new life.
Hands Four, a trio from Southern Arizona, serves up a delicious recipe of contra dance
music styles cooked to perfection by Jeff Thorn’s rhythmic fiddle,
Elena Martin’s lyrical flute, and Judy Francis’ vibrant piano.
They feature the best of New England, Irish, Southern, and French
Canadian favorites seasoned with Jeff’s original dance tunes, spiced
with driving foot percussion, and garnished with a dash of
improvisation.
Lively, tasteful, original music is always on the Hands Four
dance menu.
