The Jumping Chollas
A Tucson band, since 2007, we met at the local jam sessions and dances, evolving into a contra-dance band with a love for eclectic tunes. Give us a modern tune, and we'll sink our teeth into it and make it swing. We also play traditional tunes: Celtic, Old-time and New England.
The band members are Tom Ryan, mando
and banjo. Many of the tunes we play are written by Tom.
Guest Fiddler, Ryan Leary, is an
accomplished Cape Breton fiddler, but sometimes he's off climbing the highest peaks of Tibet. Jennifer Sordyl
is a well known fiddle and violin teacher. On guitar, Dance in the Desert's indefatigable sound man is Steve
Richard. Don Berg, on electric bass. Don's other band is an 18 piece big band, d'Aquisto swing
guitar in hand.
